Artist's Comments
I haven't kept up well enough to know how they portray Venom these days, but the "living suit" portrayal I remember always seemed a little too obedient to me for the horrific, insidious nature of the symbiote. I wanted to draw the creature as I interpret it -- As an allegory for a profound absence of self-control.
Feel like I should've pushed the expression harder. Not sure how I can fix it now  11" x 14", Micron 03 and Sharpies. Venom belongs to Marvel Comics. |

I also stirred in a little of my own interpretation of their relationship; that the Venom-entity offers great power and liberation from a regimented life, but a normal person could hardly be prepared for the mental and physical prices that come with living as a host-vessel for a bloodthirsty amoral alien parasite. I don't know if Marvel's ever really approached from that angle, but Venom's a magnificent outlet for it.
